Brief Background on the Institute:
Choekorling Lower Secondary School was established on 13th February 2013. The school was established to shift Jigmeling LSS, which is located in the RBP training camp where there was no scope for future expansion. The school started initially classes PP-III and VII-VIII. Jigmeling LSS was then downgraded to Primary school with classes PP-VI in the 2013 academic.
Choekhorling LSS School is under Dekiling Gewog. It has the area of 21.068 acres. It is located 500metres away from Choekhorling market on Thimphu-gyelephu high way, 16 Km from Sarpang Dzongkhag headquarter and 15km to Gyelephu Throme. Choekhorling initially was called Toribari. It is connected with feeder road leading to Jigme Dorji Wangchul Power Training institute (JDWPTI), Dekiling.
Geographical shape of the valley is flat and plan. The place is called Chokorling which literary means “place blessed by the Budha Dharma”. Synonymously Chokorling School means “The School blessed by Budha Dharma.
Currently it is a day lower secondary school with classes from PP- VIII. The school being centrally located and close to the upcoming industrial state, RBPTI Jigmiling, Bhutan Hydro Service Ltd., JWPTI and resettlement project, it has the potential for a Middle secondary or higher secondary school in near future.
